Kangwhado submarine rescue ship for Korean Navy
with False Decking system
Submarine rescue ship, Kangwhado, constructed by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, and is preparing for service. It will be delivered to the Navy in the middle of 2023 after a trial operation evaluation period, and will then be deployed in actual battle.
Ganghwado auxiliary ship is 120m length, 19m wide, and full load of displacement is 5,600 ton. It has advanced structures and diving systems such as automatic ship maintenance devices, deep-sea rescue submarines, underwater unmanned probes, and saturated diving systems, and medium-sized helicopters can be equipped. The number of crew members has also increased to 130, and the rescue personnel can be 17.
Hongseong HivetecksⓇ honeycomb panel was adopted to Kangwhado ship where lightweight was the key point to choose. Hongseong Industrial is carried in charge of turnkey basis of this project. We started from designing floor plan to installing raised floor system and a honeycomb panel, and completed delivery in December 2022.
